Gratefulness v’s Thankfulness

This week I want to share with you my go to tool for instantly feeling happier and being more present.

If you were a builder this would be your hammer, if you were a hairdresser this would be your scissors or if you were a cook this would be your knives… I think you get the picture.

It’s every happiness explorers foundation to making life even more amazing. This one simple tool is the begining for transforming your life from bronze or silver to gold.

If you’ve ever felt like your life is covered in a shade of grey, that you’re stuck in a cycle of saying “I’ll be happy when…” or what you desire in your life (more love, more money or more success) just aren’t coming to you quickly enough, you need to get on this like it was an all expenses paid trip to Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island.

In this video I explore the distinction between gratefulness and thankfulness so that you know exactly which one is a powerful tool for transformation that you can use in your life right now and why.

HI, I’M LYDIA KIMMERLING

I’ll help you explore and discover more of what makes you happy.

Through my six-step Life Cleanse process you will answer the important question, “What will make me truly happy?” You will create a vision and plan for your life that is bigger than you ever thought possible, that will take your life from bronze (or maybe even silver) to gold.

Let’s start now. THE FIRST STEP IS TAKING THE HAPPINESS TEST…

Creating a relationship with yourself with spiritual coach, Erin Kyna

Have you ever watched RuPaul’s Drag Race? It’s one of my favourite shows and among many of his very catchy one liners, the one I always find myself saying out loud with him is; “If you don’t love yo’self, how the hell you gonna love someone else?”  (watch him say it)

And my guest this week knows only too well the truth in those words.

Erin Kyna and I met over four years ago when we were both working as Cabin Crew for Virgin Atlantic. I was just training as a coach then but when I told Erin about what I was training to do, she jumped at the chance to be my Guinea Pig.

Now, Erin Kyna is a successful coach in her own right (with her meditations available to download on Virgin Atlantic Australia flights no less) so I wanted to catch up with her on the topic of self-love and creating a relationship with yourself.

In this interview Erin Kyna explains the difference between connecting to you interior and exterior world and how adapting what’s going on inside is the surest way of creating more of the life you want on the outside, whether that’s changing your career, falling in love or in her case, simply connecting more with people (and the personal story she tells proves that this stuff works!)

The main thing that stuck with me from this interview was an awesome question she asks her clients to help them make the best decisions for themselves on a daily basis. I’m going to be stealing this question for myself, would you like to know what it was too? Here’s a clue…

When you go to _ _ _ _ _ tonight, how will you _ _ _ _ about that _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ?

You can fill in the blanks and get loads more of Erin’s top tips for self-love by listening to the full interview now. As a subscriber to my Life Cleanse subscription you can listen to the full interview and have access to a whole hub of self-growth tools that help you to explore and discover more of what makes you happy.

Every month we focus on one self-growth subject and you receive eight transformational tools that teach you how to apply the growth into your own life.

Think of it like a gym membership but for your life.

Balanced Health Goals – 3 Tips For Getting Off The Being Good & Then Bad Roller Coaster

This summer I’ve been asked to join go ahead! on it’s squad of fitness and wellbeing experts to share my tips for sticking to your healthy intentions in an enjoyable way, but there’s also a twist, all of my tips will be something you can do with a friend. Think of go ahead!, the squad and I as your ‘virtual buddy’, here to inspire and motivate you and your best friends this summer.

Although I have my health goals on track these days, there was a point when I wondered if in fact, I would never be able to find the consistency I so longed for.

My life seemed to be on one continuous rollercoaster that went from one extreme to another. I was either doing a 30 day Bikram challenge and cutting out everything that began with a Carb loaded C; Crips, Chocolate, Cake, Cookies and Chips, or I was binging on the aforementioned and grateful if I even looked at the gym class schedule.

My life was out of balance.

So how do you get off the being good and then being bad roller coaster to achieve balance with your health goals?

I know that you want to create long lasting change in a way that means you don’t have to cut out everything that you love, so here are 3 tips for balancing your health goals so that you can create consistency and avoid giving yourself a hard time for the odd ‘slip up’.

1: Choose sustainable goals

A lot of the time, when it comes to creating change around our health, it’s because we’ve hit our “I’ve had enough of this” breaking point where we won’t tolerate how we feel anymore. This is a strong and powerful point of change, we feel super-charged and indestructible, so we set ourselves huge goals that make us feel really excited and inspired – like running 5 miles every single day or completely giving up sugar – which may sound good at the time, but is that what you really want and is this truly sustainable? The likelihood is that it is not and all that happens is we last for 7-14 days, give up and then repeat the cycle.

BUDDY TIP:  Decide to work together on building up your goals rather than starting big. For example if you both want to exercise more, agree that for the first two weeks you will run for 5 minutes, then the next two weeks for 10 minutes and the following two weeks for 15 minutes. Then by the end of the year you could be running for over 2 hours!

2: Understand your ‘reward’ mindset

From an early age we are trained that good behaviour deserves a reward. This subconscious training can still show up in adulthood and can actually trigger self-sabotage. What do you say to yourself about your good behaviour? How have you been rewarding yourself? A lot of the time we can be great at sticking to our goals and then decide to reward ourselves with the very things we wanted to avoid.

BUDDY TIP: Set monthly rewards you do together that enhance your health goals instead of stump them. Maybe that would be pre-booking a massage or a spa day. If you talk about how you’re going to reward yourselves beforehand, you’re setting yourself up for success and you will be less likely to dip into old habits.

3: Ask the question “What is best for me?”

The foundation to finding balance in your life is to love yourself. Learning to love yourself is a life long project, it’s not something that just happens over night and then that’s it. Just like being in a relationship, you have to work on that relationship to keep it alive and the relationship you have with yourself is no different. When you are making choices about your health, one question you can ask yourself is; “What is best for me?”. The more you love yourself the more you want to do what is best for you, so asking this question will be a reminder of that.

BUDDY TIP: Why not complete this confidence boosting task with your buddy? Each ask three friends what five qualities they admire about you the most and then when you have the answers, share them with your buddy. You will be pleasantly surprised about what others see in you that maybe you don’t see in yourself.

All of the tips, videos, tutorials and inspiration can be found on the go ahead! social media channels and will be released throughout the summer for people to get ahead (both mentally and physically) this summer. You can also pose questions and get them answered by myself and the go ahead! squad of experts Q&As via the go ahead! Facebook page.

HI, I’M LYDIA KIMMERLING

I’ll help you explore and discover more of what makes you happy.

Think about how you look and feel right after you’ve been on holiday. There’s a spring in your step and any frown lines have softened. Your eyes are sparkling because your life is sparkling. But it’s not how amazing your life looks to others that makes it amazing, it’s how you feel about your life that makes it shine.

Let’s start now. THE FIRST STEP IS TAKING THE HAPPINESS TEST…

Two Easy Communication Swaps To Get More Of What You Want

Even though what he was asking me to do was clear, it wasn’t quite specific enough. In this circumstance it was something that I call ‘girl code’, an un-written understanding to be very specific and it made me wonder – how often is our communication not clear enough?

If you ever feel frustrated because life isn’t bringing you what you want, or you can’t get people around you to do what you need them to do, it could be because you’re not communicating clearly enough.

I know we can all find it hard to be direct with what we want, in fact there are two common blocks which I share in this video about why we hold back and fluff our words.

My communication has changed so much since I started to coach, part of the training is becoming a master communicator and there are a couple of swaps that I made to how I communicate which I wanted to share with you.

In this video I explain what inspired this blog, I share the two most common blocks I see that hold us back from communicating clearly about what we want and give you two easy swaps you can make in your own communication.

How To Heal A Broken Relationship

We knew we didn’t want to break-up but we kept going around in circles, so what other option was there?

Relationships can break down for many reasons but most of the time they do not need to.

Whether it’s your friend, a family member or a partner, if you don’t want to let this relationship go but you can’t find any other way, the answer is in this video.

We can all make this mistake and I share it in this video along with the one thing you can do to heal your relationship and bring it back to a place where it’s better than it’s ever been. My partner and I went from nearly breaking up to having butterflies in our tummies again.

Ps: This was a few years ago, we are very happy now but that is also because we follow this rule on a daily basis.
